VEEDA AHMED SELLING EXHIBITION
1 SEPTEMBER – 21 SEPTEMBER 2019
The work of Veeda Ahmed has most recently been exhibited at Qatar Foundation, Education City Mosque and highlighted during an artist’s workshop at Museum of Islamic Art.
The works on display here explore the idealized worlds and forms found in Persian, Mughal and Pahari paintings. The artist uses shading (pardakht), dots (nuqtas) and lines (lakeerain) to create the illusion of depth in the absence of shadows.
Veeda Ahmed infuses a new creative spirit into ancient practices and surviving techniques of painting, calligraphy and illumination. She employs the finest materials, such as gold leaf, and often grinds her own pigments to achieve the most harmonious color.
Her work keeps the knowledge and skills of master practitioners alive while honoring the tradition of these fine art forms in the 21st century.
